Main Event Wine Notes
Williamsburg Winery Wessex Dry Rose 2002
A cornucopia of fruits nuances offering some bright tropical pineapple and grapefruit, along with fresh red fruits of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. These are then complemented with some honeydew melon, apple and pear layers. The fruit is well rounded with a perfumed vanilla cream aspect that balances well with the fruits and chalky minerality. The mouthfeel is smooth and elegant with the fruits being highlighted. The finish lasts a long time with the fruits and lemon zest notes emphasized again, yet still maintains and creamy finish.
Williamsburg Winery Virginia Petite Verdot
An approachable big wine offering a smattering of black cherry, blackberry, blueberry and strawberry. Additionally, there is a lovely herbal/spicy layer with a hint of aloe vera that plays well with the fruit. Behind the fruit and herbal nuances is an inviting cocoa and vanilla aspect that rounds out the other layers well. The oak is very well integrated with the various aspects of the wine as well as the firm, yet soft approachable tannins. All of this comes together allowing for a rich, creamy, lingering finish with a hint of the classic forest floor.
Williamsburg Winery Acte 12 Chardonnay
A wonderfully structured Chardonnay with notes of lemon meringue, green apple, melon and Apricots. The fruits are backed up with a touch of fresh grass, clove and pepper. There is a just a hint of tropical nuances that build on the structure of the wine. The mouthfeel is full bodied, which enhances the bright clean fruit forward finish, with the fresh lemons. Overall, a well-balanced wine that should age well over the next couple years and will pair well with whatever creeps, crawls or walks out of the Chesapeake Bay.
Williamsburg Winery Virginia Claret
An imminently approachable wine with a beautiful ruby hue and an abundance of Berries. In addition to the many different berries there are some bright cherry and black cherry notes, along with vanilla cola and cocoa, that is a nice compliment to the fresh herbal, lemon and black pepper characters. The Tannins have a chalky feel with a touch of limestone. The oak is very well integrated with the fruit and tannins, ultimately providing a wonderful, clean, fruit forward mouthfeel and finish. A great wine for pairing with many foods
